New owners had bought a recently extended home with the oringinal old French Doors in a front room, which was out of keeping with the now more modern home. I ordered a custom window to fit the same opening, removed the French Doors, fitted the new casement windows, patched the plaster inside, refitted the architraves and painted them, then varnished the new windows and timber flyscreens.
The owners wanted to cut down the noise coming from the busy road outside, through the French Doors onto a balcony, into thier bedroom and also improve the weather proofing as well. Because of the dorma balcony design the windows needed to open inwards. Most window manufacturers would not make inward opening windows. I sourced a manufacturer who would and had the windows made with "Hush Glass" to minimise the noise transference. In this case the client painted the windows themselves and then I installed them and the window furniture.
