NORTHERN BEACHES of Sydney & part of North Shore

The pictures and links below show photos of specific areas of expertise to demonstrate our well honed skills.

Handy Work has done a lot of landscape related work over the years.  We do not have much in the way of horticultural skills buy we are well experienced with most areas of hard landscaping and landscape carpentry.  Jobs completed include: treated pine and hardwood features like seats, retaining walls, garden edges, planter boxes and concrete features, watering systems and ponds, not to mention screening (shown on another page).

Handy Work is multi-skilled in virtually all areas of property, building & carpentry improvements.
No matter whether it is new work, modifications or repairs. Get us to fix everything you need done in one go. You don’t have to hang around day after day, waiting for multiple trades, who may or may not turn up.

Log Retaining Wall- Mona Vale

Sloping blocks present their own challenges but can be made very functional through the use of low retaining walls.  As long as they are less than 1m high they are unlikely to need an engineering design, making it cost effective.  If you need to retain more than a meter then using two or three retaining walls spread out a meter or more from each other can keep the costs manageable.  The slope on this site was manageable with a single log wall.  Later I paved the flat area created through back-filling the retaining wall.

Artificial Grass Over Concrete - Mona Vale

This concrete area was broken up in places and was felt to be quite ugly by the owners.  It was also a danger to their 18 month old, active son.  Handy Work repaired the worst concrete damage, put down Artificial Grass using special adhesives and then applied tons of sand so the grass strands stood up and made the surface softer, seeing it was being turned into a play area.

You should have seen the massive smile on the little boy's face when he walked on it bare feet the first time.

Garden Seat and Refinish Planter - Narraweena

An old deck used to be in the corner of the yard but had rotted and needed demolishing.  The Northern Beaches owner did the demolishing and engaged Handy Work to build a Garden Seat with a high back and to fill in the section of planter box which was demolished with the old deck. to hide the ugly fence behind then the owner laid grass.

Build Outdoor Barbecue Table - Erskineville

A regular client had looked unsuccessfully for a table of unusual dimensions for the courtyard of their terrace house, so that the weekly family dinner could be outside on warm evenings. They asked Handy Work to make a long thin table 2.5m long by 70cm wide.  Merbau hardwood was selected and Handy Work sourced the timbers and manufactured it in their workshop then delivered it.
