Remove Doors and Install Window - Manly

This renovated home on the Northern Beaches had a set of French Doors in the front wall which did not match at all with the style of home.  Handy Work removed the old French Doors and installed a new window custom made to the opening size in one day. Then coated it with Sikens to give it the same look as the rest of the house.

Replaced Sash Cord on Counter Weights of Old Window - Mosman

Houses built before the second world war with the original double hung windows have a torpedo shaped cast iron counter weight hidden to each side of the window.  That counter weight is attached to the sash cord but those cords deteriorate and break making opening and closing those magnificent, although archaic windows nearly impossible to open.

Handy Work is well skilled and experienced in dealing with these old style windows and can restore most back to operation as good as new.  This is not a job for the inexperienced.  A number of timber components need removing and the sash needs to be out of the frame.  Sometimes a repaint is unnecessary but occasionally a paint improves the look afterwards.

This beautifully restored home on the Lower North Shore had a non-funtioning window which was thankfully easy for Handy Work to repair.  In more modern homes these windows typically have Sash Spring Balances which Handy Work replaces routinely.

Install Window on Balcony - Mosman

This quaint old home had a lovely little balcony with French Doors onto it from the master bedroom but the owners wanted to have an additional window unit to cut down road noise and to lessen the water on the balcony tiles during inclement weather.  Handy Work had a window made to order and installed it for them, after the owners painted it themselves (to save money).
